Season 2, Session 6

Pilot – Timothy Zorn.
Navigator – Simone Sykes

Marth sending 3 ships looking for dragons.

Ship sustainable speed of 60 mph.

Timothy is attuned to yellow.
Simone is attuned to red.

Atlas been developed for 2 years. Mostly earth mages
at first.

The Engineer helped get the crystal network set up.

Everything powered by the crystal network.

Crystals laid out in a pattern in the crystal room
so that each crystal’s energy output interacts with
each others with an amplifying effect.

Simone is an “arcanist” — gone through the atonement ritual
four times. Not high ranking, but broad knowledge. Started
as earth mage, now red mage, training to be yellow. Wants to
keep airships up.

It’s cold and windy. Tristan gets airsick.

Tim gives Verak with a spyglass, a pretty good one.

Above Morgot’s city, spying down. There’s no zombies and the area looks cleaner.
Two bulky shapes moving around. They’re humanoid. Large, strange proportions.
Shoulders too broad, arms too long, waist too narrow. Gray/tan color.

Verak and Tristan choose not to investigate further.

See some sites of interest. Wildmen camps. Some ruins, barely a stone left standing.

At the 7 hours mark we see one large site. No buildings or structures. Circular signs where roads once were.
We decide that since we’re turning around soon to investigate. Parnas joins us.

This city looks like it was once under siege, leveled and burned.

Feels like something is missing. Abnormal about how it was sieged. Can’t quite put my finger on it.

Tristan find something similar to a circular door in the ground.
Something scratched into the door… looks familiar… saw it in Morgot’s carvings.

“Morgot’s Mark”

Scratched in after the fact, not part of the original door design.

An image of an elf appears after Tristan activates the door.
Very old, very guant elf. He looks like what Morgot might look like
if he wasn’t a zombie.

It begins speaking but we don’t understand anything it says.

Door opens, forms spiral staircase.

Marching order: Tristan, Parnas, Verak.

Deep scratches in the walls, like someone was trying to escape.

4 tunnels, light from one. Tristan tells us to stay back while he investigate.
the light.

Robert finds rat people. Chooses not to parlay. Tunnel #2.
Opens into bend, with clay rat people against the wall. Not really statues,
not sure what they are. Highly detailed, lifelike. Signs of decay.
“Why make a clay rat man that looks like it’s decaying” — one looks like
wounded with clay flesh. Parnas thinks it may be possible. We’ve fought statues before.

Twisting turning, intersection. Light to the left, we go straight across.

Come to a room, tables, rags, trash. Continue to the right. Find a room.
Couple of tables, bowls on the tables, someone was working with clay in here.
Carving little rat children out of clay.

We return to intersection. We hear sounds. Tristan leads us back the way we came.
We hear something call out in an unknown tongue.

Three rat people. One starts talking in a more level tone.

The rat men ask if we’re from what may be above and run away.
Verak wants to follow and see what happens when they go outside.

Hear screaming. Come outside to see ratmen mostly blind and Simone with
a fireball. And elf/Morgot image start up again.

Verak says “They’re not aggressive. They didn’t attack us.”
Simone calms down a bit, but doesn’t release fireball.

Two take off running. The leader stays.

Elf/image says something, and two ratmen fall.

Two Ratmen are clay now.

Final Ratman curses elf image. Commit suicide by stepping out of range.

On the way back, we saw an additional ruin. Mostly buried in trees,
Tim says the mages have already ransacked that one. Also pass additional
Wildmen campsites.

We find Marth working with the focus crystal.

Unique properties of almost limitless power. Thinks if he plugged into
the Atlas it could work today. Safer and less violent than the crystals.
Theorizes that it might be the solution he’s look for. May be able to get
his powers back.

Marth found an old tome, points at a page with a big dragon. Dragon is holding
a focus crystal. Caption: “Dragon holding the world stone.”

Crystal may be able non-mages into a mage, maybe even turn everyone into a mage.

Legend “the world stone” was a gift given to the people once every 100 generations.
Legen is that it grants wishes but falls into the wrong hands. It’s misused and then
goes away for another hundred generations.

How long until Thanniv returns?
We don’t have long.

Next day:

Breakfast in the morning. Hear a rumor that some guy is swearing that there was a guy riding on the dragon.
No new dragon sitings.

At the meeting planning our route, Tristan zones out and draws a map after
having a vision. He asked where the lost city was. 10 hours ride. This time,
Lily comes with us.

Tristan Vision Buddy says Morgot chose not to accept godhood, but the reason why is unknown.

After the 6 hour mark we start seeing more ruins, most look besieged, razed.
At some point, Tim gets excited because we’re going 70 mph!!! Lily doesn’t
like heights and stays below deck most the time.

We see coastline. Tim says no one has been this far. Sprawling set of ruins
with a structure around the coast and a tall tower. These ruins seem beseiged
as well, but in far better condition than others. Fires and tee-pee along
the outer edge of the ruins.

The camps aren’t Wildmen. Red Goblins.

Lily chooses to join us. Parnas relieved.

See’s dragon to the north.

Lily shouts “Parnas you’re going.”

Parnas can signal Tim for pickup.

We hit the ground, Tim flies off south-east, dragon lands 100 yards north.

“Alkin Marth wishes to establish diplomatic relations.”

From the Left: “My brother wishes to intimidate you.”

“He’ll find I’m not easily intimated, although the dragon is a good tactic.”

To the left of me is an old guy.

“My brother continues to vex me. I believe you have spoken to him before, Tristan.”

“Closest approximation. Although we do not share the same parents, we share the same blood.
He believe the affairs of man should be meddled in. I believe it up to the individuals to make their own choices.”

“Because of his interference I am forced to adjust things. So I am going to give you a gift. Lebab”

And he’s gone.

The old guy is now arguing with his brother. We approach them. Wizen old red
goblin approaches.

Verak say “Tristan go talk to your friend, I’ll handle this.”

Tristan starts to walk that way. Parnas stops him. “Don’t do that.”

“That guy radiates more magic than I’ve ever seen before, and I’ve spent time in the crystal room.”

Red Goblin says “Greetings”

Verak says “I am Verak, this is Tristan. We wish to pass through your camp.”

Realize I am not speaking my native tongue. Probably gift from old dude (Label is Babel backwards).

Red Goblin Lady agrees to guide us through their camp.

Much of the goblin art has mountain peaks. With dragons.

Looking at the actual mountains. Yeah, dragons.

“Is years past counting, once a great city, laid all across the land. The ancient peoples live side by side with the winged lizard men, dragons. But one day the ancient peoples grew jealous of the dragons. And a war broke out across the land. When they took the gift from the sky the dragons came and attacked and laid wastes to the cities. So at last 21 of the ancient people took the gift from the sky. They ascended to the tower. Here one fell behind and told his companions to continue on. That he would hold off the attack. 20 go up. And when at last they entered the great chamber, they shut the doors and sealed it behind them. And those doors have never been open to this day. And now you, the children from the sky to open the door. Many, many generations we have waited for the children of the sky.”

As we reach the top step she turns around.

Season 2, Session 5

Marth, Verak, Tristan, Parnas, and Lily in the room.

Verak calls Marth out on “summoning” a dragon.

Lily calls Bearg “The Engineer.” Marth has never seen The Engineer.

If Marth doesn’t get his powers back, we lose access to the chamber.

After some debate, Marth agrees to gives Verak, Tristan and Parnas an airship to search the Sacred City.

Season 2, Session 4

Crystals used in the attunements are colored.

Chamber for attunement. Rites and Rituals. Colored “crystals” – may or may not be the same as the crystals.

50 or so mages in the city.

Thaniv left; Archmage Channler arrived.

Marth in attunement chamber.

Verak convinced Parnas, who reluctantly agrees, to take us to the chamber.

Escalator not working.

Scream from behind the Chamber door.

Verak and Parnas pushes their way in.

Door doesn’t open from magic crystal.

Parnas, Verak, Tristan start pulling open the door.

Door partially opened.

Figure far side room. Extends had, throws something and hits Marth square in the chest.

Door slight more open.

Another dagger hits Marth who falls to the ground.

Door flings open.

Older man, stringy hair, shaven, nice hooded robes, somewhat tall

“What is the meaning of this, guards!”

Verak kills the mage.

The platform has a dome… much like the one the elf drew.
Dead center, bowl shape. Where the focus crystal may fit.

Marth: “… if I am not a mage what am I”

Verak: “we will be gods together”

Verak performs first aid.

We take him a room.

They are sending for a doctor.

Mage archmage Channler.

Half dozen guys took an airship, and they left. Only one or two come back.

Logan’s dead. Body of Logan was discovered hidden in the chamber. Massive electral blast.

Short, little girl very young. Long dark hair, pulled back. Runs to the side of Marth. Gasps.

“Parnas why haven’t you healed him?” / “Magic’s not working”

Girls name is Lily Vantis, threatens to have us detain. Assert we are not leaving Marth.

“Acting Overseer of Atlas project.”

Normally 1 person to represent all of the college and a master of ceremonies, plus the person doing plus 2 people for moral support. Sometimes there’s discomfort, but never any screaming. Parnas has no idea why Channler was attacking Marth. Some archmages are opposed to the project, but no idea if Channler is one of them.. and if he was, why would he be here. Marth should have been notified when Thaniv left, but that didn’t happen and Parnas finds it suspect.

“Make sure Jake doesn’t leave his quarters.” (Jake is Channler’s apprentice)

Lily tearing up at Marth’s injury. Lily is Marth’s assistance/apprentice. Parnas thinks she’s in love with Marth.

Verak makes duplicate of his journal.

Figure in doorway. Short figure, robes and hood.

Bearg: Blue skinned Goblin. Light, almost yellow eyes.
Helps with the construction on Atlas.

We were a beautiful people; tall, proud…
That is what your kind calls us.

We grew vain. We rejected our creaters.
The dragons?
It’s a very unfortunate term. Becuase the word dragon can meet a lot of things. We will just say the first dragons. We worshipped them as gods, until we figured out how to build ourselves our own gods. Regardless, we were punished for our vanity.

How so, and who punished you?

The first gods, the first dragons.

They turned us into this. I mean, it wasn’t all at once. Though the legends go that when the our great leaders took to become gods themselves to lead us. They ascended to the city never to return.

Dragons Gods:
Dragon Lords:
Dragon Beasts: Dragon beasts can become dragon lords.

Elves and dragons went to war with gods.
Seven elves ascended with a promise to return, but did not return.
Magic went away, elves turned to goblins over generations.

Opened portals to other worlds with crystals. Most light, but one dark. The shizen (destroyers). Said to be the cause of nightmares.

Morgot story said was left behind. But elves said he stayed behind.

Logan arrived a week ago.

Lily sent a flying ship to get Cox.
Cox says he thinks Marth will alright.

“War never changes.”
“I think flying ships will make war changes a lot.”

Next day Marth awakens.
“Channeler went crazy. Never a fan… but I think he killed Logan.” no idea why.

Try to convince Marth to ascend. Says it doesn’t make sense. Opposite of attunement.

Almost drawn in. Almost make out an image on the far side of it.

Crystal release a mist that starts flowing right at Marth.

Tristan covers it up.

“They’re not stone. They’re not crystals. They’re breaks in reality. They don’t contain magic. They’re a doorway to magic. If the crystals are magics that things it doorway.”

We go to the attunement rom. The attunement crystals are all the colors, but look different.

“Warrants further research”

Dragon outside.

Season 2, Session 3

Arrive at the town of Foxhill.
Tavern: Two Tailed Fox.

7-8 Lullcast.

Drodan is Marth’s contact. He is in a bookstore (scrolls, parchment, ink).

Message to Marth: “Origins discovered. Critical we meet immediately. Send time/location.”

Guy watching us, mid twenties, lanky, muscle.
Loder. Used to work in the shipyards out east.
Say he saw two mages, possibly Marth, go to Redmill in the west.

After staying at the Church of Ven-ack in Foxhill and waiting most of the morning to hear back from Marth, Verak and Tristan travel to Redmill.

Older guy with handlebar mustache. Lies to us about Marth; says no one coming to town.

Verak and Tristan wear out their welcome after demanding to know where their friends are.

A kid named Bast tells us that one mage left, one disappeared “I don’t know what they did with him.”

We flee the town.

Tristan returns in the morning, alone.

The Atlas. It’s the project Marth’s master has been working on. Sort of a sanctuary.

Giant chains attached to a city carved out of the peak of a mountain. Welcome to the Atlas.

Tristan is a big blue nazi.

Doshen (aka Blue People) were attempting to orchestrate a war between the mages guild and the church.

Lanton Season 2, Episode 2

Tristan and Verak encounter 4 zombies.
Kill them.

Verak sees 5th. Cuts off head. Zombie smirks.

Verak sees a dozen more. Attacks. They kneel in front of him.

Verak: Speak.
Zombie: Welcome.
Verak: Where are we?
Zombie: Ruins Prydil. My home and my prison.
Verak: What happened here?
Zombie: come speak with me in person.
Verak: What is your name?
Zombie: Morgot.

There is no Morgot. There is a Morgoth legend, but it is aprocapha.

We enter a courtyard, approaching dome.
Notice more zombies, but more skeletal and wearing clothes similar to the wildmen.

We enter the dome and Tristan lights a torch.

Tristan sees an engraving of 7 figures.

“Explain yourself”
“I apologize. It has been very long since I have had visitors”
Claps, zombies move curtains and lights come in.

Tall, slender, over 6’6". No hair, no nose, skin stretched. Looks like a corpse:

“What you’ve done here is an abomination, an affront to Marsen.”

I was there when he and the others ascended. They left me here to be forgotten. Denied the gifts of life and death.

“You were there when the slew the dead gods.”

“I suppose so. I became one of the dead gods.”

“There were 21 of us.”

Long ago, we were the second race. The great powers that created the world created the dragons. Viscious savage monsters… and our people. While the dragons were simply beasts that as the years passed grew more powerful, they were given a divine spark they could become divide. We on the other hand were simply given… we had to build everything. We were creators. Eventually we learned to create our own divine spark. An d a war broke out… and war in which we won. And in the end the 7 remaining tribe council members banded together .. and they 7 each took 2 assistance. We came to the city Ashala with the divine spark in hand. THe city was still defended and I was injured—left behind. THe others went on.

7 to become what you now call gods. The others, the dead gods.

“How do we find the 7”

“Do you seek the divine spark?”

“We must find it”

“Do you wish to stand shoulder to shoulder with the gods. Do you wish to ascend”

“No. I wish to prevent others.”

Mural. 7 figures, each with 2 people behidn them except 1. Each of the seven holds a crystal. The person who is missing is behind the orange.

It requires the stone table. Then you must use a crystal. Channel energies to it. The crystals are not simply physical rocks. They are bridges between the world of concept and the physical world. You can draw energies into the physical from the other side. When enough energy is gathered it is spun around the table like fabric on a loom.

Needs a colored crystal to work. Non-colored crystals can be turned into colored crystals, but that process is lost.

Then assuming you have done everything right, you can bring down the divine spark.

Hands Tristan a blue healing stone.

“I cannot leave this place.”

There are elves fighting dragon.

“They are mistake.”

“Crafter of life. We built new races. The ones that were ill equipped were supposed to be destroyed, but some escaped. Only one was a success. A mixture of then very primitive humans. They were given great speed and power. They helped us win the war. Humans were the third race.”

Human = third race.
Elves = second race.
Dragons = first race.

He created to Dosheen.

Tristan “that is what I am?”

“It is what you descend from.”

“Take the place alongside my friends, even my beloved Jarech”

“A focus crystal; that can be very useful. We used those to channel energies. It’s allows for easier access to the energies used in the ascension.”

THe very last drawing is very interesting… looks nothing like anything else… strange creature vaguly humanoid.

“The devourer” – a very old legend. A story my people had… he was buried deep in the earth and left there and he could only reach out through dreams.

“I carved this mural because this build I was place over… bears this symbol.” On the floor there is a large rune carved. “I fancied that perhaps I was left here as a guardian to watch over the boogyman.”

“Then I shall rest” – when he sits he is unnaturally still.

Tristan has encounter he cannot remember. Says something about a ring of fire, no burning. Do not trust Morgot. He seeks to summon the devourer.

Morgoth — only mentioned once — called The Prince of Betrayal.

Oracle: “Marsen has chosen you for a very important role.”

And the group rents horses and travels to find Marth.

Lanton Season 2, Episode 1

Prince Jathan provides horses and provisions.

Farmer at the border that we will leave the horses with.

Payment is given for the farmer.

Scout injured (leg and arm, not fatally). Insited the other scouts leave him behind. Named Thonmat. Attempt to find him if possible.

“I am looking for things… I want to see why my brother sees a threat in these ruins.”

I tell Jathan about the crystals from the ruins being used as weapons potentially. He doesn’t believe the crystals are what his brother is afraid of.

3 day trip to ruins.

Smoke, we investigate.

Camoflagued, 5 foot tall savage guy in tree jumps down, facing away from Verak. Says “wait/stop/cease/understand” in foreign language. Wearing cloak and hood with sticks.

Small man with bow, pointed at head. Looks like savage, but tan-greenish skin. Maybe 5 foot. Ears are not cut they are pointed.

Green guy lowers his bow. Tristan comes out of stealth.

Green guy runs away.

Cloak guy “you should have no come here.” Turns around, looks like elf guy, but bluish skin. Has pointy ears. Sharp features.

Green guy doesn’t look like elf statues.

Cloak guy looks similar to elf statue, but not quite.

Cloak guy speaks our langauge.

Cloak guy: “You shouldn’t have come here”

Cloak guy: “No place for humans”

Cloak guy “I have been watching you Tristan”

Cloak guy: “THe answers I seek are whether or not humans have grown ready to understand the mysteries of the world.”

Verak takes a blair witch project totem.

30 minutes later, Tristian recogonizes Cloak guy as Shadowy Figure that helped us escape ruins under the town.

Next morning.

Verak notices a vine trip wire right as Tristan trips.

Thomatt older, scar on his eye. Rudimentary splint, cane.

Thomatt and Jathan go way back.

Thomatt jumped by a statue.

Tristan claims to see a “flying ship” going north.

Session 6 Notes

The group successfully sneaks Jethro out of town.
Jethro doesn’t know how to mark the map. “Landmarks” he says.
Pass crazy old man in cabin talking to stump.
“You already know”
“Fire and shadow ice and light do you trust a thief at night.”
“The gods are coming.”
Wilders. First settlers. Went to the west, became savages.
We’re walking on a road that’s overgrown. With trees.
The bridge is out.

Forded the river.
Encounted a “wilder” – few clothes, war paint.

They use stone head arrows, primitive bow. Verak takes them for archelogical evidence.
Group comes accross a campsite with the savages. They are dead.
All have their throats cut as if they were murdered simultaniously.
Tristan finds tracks, soft footprints, very small like a child. No child among the bodies.
Logan finds a “wicked looking dagger” with blood. Made from a metal. Curved blade. Probably iron or steel. Does not primitive by any means. It’s styling is unlike weapondry I have ever encountered. Perhaps has asthetic features, unsure.
All savages have the cut ears.
Ruins are separate directions.
Ruins are sizable, seriously overgrown. And looks bigger.
Door with 3 concentric circles. One of the rings missing.
People have been trying to pry it open.

Tristan finds a trap. Giant blades.
He sets off the trap with a giant rock on a pressure plate.

Not official martial law; de facto martial law.
All government officials, including military report to Lord Byron for final say.
The king sent the soliders.
Abandoned house and well off limits.
The rumor is that caverns under the city.

They run in.

The stoned guy says he was here to tell the truth of “The One True God” – Named Jason.
Tristan has funny line: “We better not tell Verak about this guy.”
Jason says he hasn’t been here that long.

Jason is a missonary Fallus.
Logan and Tristan warn him against missonary work.

Marth has a nice cell, desk, books.
Marth looks very gaunt.
Marth wants a pristine crystal.

Unlikely that a new crystal exists in the Western (First) ruin.
Go to Inn where Fallon has been staying.
A woman with black hair storms out of Fallon’s room.
Her name is Melinda and she slaps Logan.

She storms off, but Verak convinces her to come back.
She says Marth will get us himself and us killed.
Says to meet her at noon for an explanation.
Fallon says there was another ruin. He was talking to a guy, but that guy disappeared.
Guy’s name is Jethro Killrock. He’s a thief. Tristan personally know him.
Tristan knows where he might be laying low.
We decide there’s enough time to look for this guy and make it back in time to talk to Melinda.
Tristan attempts to negotiate the information; “what do you need besides safe passage out of town.”
Tristan agrees to disguise Jethro and get him out of town in exchange for being lead to the ruins.
Group returns to Inn to meet with Melinda.
Thaniv is one of the Archmages (Top Rank).
Marth is a Master Wizard (2nd to Top Rank).
Marth reports directly to Thaniv.
Thaniv is overseeing a very important project for the Mage’s Guild.
Marth supposed to be assisting with the project.
Melinda doesn’t know if Marth came here under Thaniv’s orders or not.
Melinda concerned about public perception and the possible persecution.
In Fallus, prior to the war and continue to this day, implement a government registry. Guild is criminalized.
“The guild does not deny people access to their magical talents.”
The crystals can be used as long range weapons. Melinda fears the crystals at the Guild may be “virbated”/blown up via remote crystal.
Melinda would rather take Marth back home.
Melinda asks to make a distraction so she can trasport Marth.
Verak tell her no dice; Marth would have asked for that.
